Emerging topics in nanophononics and elastic, acoustic, and mechanical metamaterials: an overview, a very special scientific article.

Last spring, more specifically 25-27 April 2022, we participated actively in the organization of the Colloquium 610 Emerging topics in acoustic and mechanical metamaterials, framed within the series of European Mechanics Society colloquia called #EUROMECH, organized by Anastassiia O. Krushynska and Daniel Torrent,  held in the Hotel Palasiet, in Benicassim, Spain. Just to remember, more than 50 abstracts with high-quality contributions were presented in non-parallel oral and poster presentation sessions with speakers from 11 countries. The topics discussed went from fundamentals such as phononics and nano-phononics to the different applications of phononics, acoustic and mechanical metamaterials or the theoretical aspects of designing metamaterials and phononic crystals. This colloquium was an excellent opportunity to present Dynamo to our colleagues since our project will contribute to the development of new applications in the field of phononics.

So, why are we bringing this event back if it happened almost a year ago? Well, the outcome of that meeting of scientists, experts in the field of phononic crystals and acoustic metamaterials could not be other than this paper called Emerging topics in nanophononics and elastic, acoustic, and mechanical metamaterials: an overview, recently published in Nanophotonics and coordinated by Anastassiia O. Krushynska and Daniel Torrent.

This is a very special paper for us, not only because of our involvement in the organization of the event along with Anastasiia Krushynska, but because this scientific article is the result of an international encounter of experts, a space where knowledge, expertise and passion for science was shared.

Thanks to all the institutions and universities that collaborated or participated in the event and that played an important role in the surge of this article.
